A proposed hotel site is gaining momentum for Downtown Melbourne.

With city counsel's approval, the hotel will be a 6-floor, 80 foot high Aloft, a Marriott-brand hotel. The 125-room hotel will be directly across the street from Hell 'n Blazes Brewing Company at the east end of Downtown Melbourne. It would join a couple of other projects in Downtown Melbourne which are already in the works. The $30 million high-end apartment tower known as The Highline is currently under construction next to the Henegar Center, and expected to be finished next year. If approved, Aloft will join another hotel planned for Downtown Melbourne, 156-room, 11-story Tapestry Collection by Hilton, which is to be built behind Meg O'Malley's.
