Has anyone else noticed how the skyline of downtown Melbourne has been changing? It is especially noticeable as you are coming from beachside over to the mainland. The $31 million Highline project, which is an 8-story apartment complex scheduled to open for tenants in early May, is currently the most conspicuous new construction project towering over Downtown Melbourne. Not far behind is the site of the future $42 million Hotel Melby, which will top out at 11 stories and currently houses a tower crane. Just to the north of downtown, construction has begun on the twin, 100-foot Paramount Riverfront Condominiums on US 1, which will offer 68 direct riverfront luxury residences. Another project in the works is a 6-story Aloft Hotel to be constructed at the old SunTrust Bank property across from Hell 'n Blazes Brewing Company at the east end of Downtown Melbourne. Along with these new construction projects have come several new restaurants, including Ember & Oak, Crydermans Barbecue, The Crafty Crane, Quarters Brewery and Arcade, The Living Room Art Gallery & Wine Bar and more. Sounds like a great time to visit Downtown Melbourne to grab a drink and a bite!
